A fisherman swims down to touch the statue of Christ Of The Abyss (Cristo degli abissi) for good fortune, in the Marine Protected Area of Portofino (Area Marina Protetta, Portofino), Liguria, Italy. Mediterranean Sea. The statue was the world's first underwater statue, sculpted by Guido Galletti, and placed underwater in 1954. Its bronze consists of medals of mariners and athletes, parts of ships, bells and canons. It was restored in 2004. There are two famous copies of this statue - one underwater in the Florida Keys and one underwater in Grenada.
