Illustration of extinct Mega Penguin (Palaeeudyptes klekowskii) with human and Emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) for scale. Mega Penguins were the largest and heaviest penguins ever, with this species reaching 2 metres in height. Palaeeudyptes klekowskii lived 37 to 40 million years ago, and fossils of this species were found on Seymour Island, off the Antarctic peninsula.
