The Caspian turtle (Mauremys caspica), or striped-neck terrapin, is a medium-sized semi-aquatic turtle, which is found from from the eastern Mediterranean through Turkey, Bulgaria and central Iran to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Israel, and across the Ionian Peninsula to former Yugoslavia.
