St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) flower and pills. The St. Johns wort flowers are used in complimentary medicine as a natural drug which acts as a herbal antidepressant and in the treatment of bladder problems and diarrhoea. It is also used to treat wounds, sores, ulcers, swellings, rheumatism, bites and stings. The flowering tips of the St John's wort plant have medicinal properties and are used as a natural wound-healer and as a cure for incontinence. The medicinally useful parts of the plant are gathered in the early summer and prepared as an infusion, syrup or fluid extract as well as in tablet or capsule form.
