Aluminium production. Furnaces and electrolysis being used to produce aluminium at the Tajik Aluminum Plant in Tajikstan. The factory was founded in 1975. Production has varied over the years depending on the supply of aluminium ore (alumina). The factory accounts for a large proportion of the manufacturing capacity of Tajikstan, as well as much of its exports, and employs thousands of people. Pollution from the factory has caused health problems for workers and those living in the surrounding areas.
