A close-up view of toothwort (Lathraea squamaria) an entirely parasitic plant of the broomrape family, most commonly found on the roots of hazel. It appears above ground as a flower usually in March or April. Found in the UK, Europe and in parts of Asia. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in March.
