Caption

This lateral (from the side) MRI image of the neck (cervical spine) nicely demonstrates a moderately large posterior herniation of the C5-6 disc. The herniated disc is mildly compressing (dark purple dot in center) the front of the cervical spinal cord. MRI is the single best test to diagnose herniated discs of the spine.
