Caption

In this image, the active sites of two cutinase enzymes are locked together and rendered harmless by the inhibitor butyl-phosphinic acid (plum-colored molecule). This enzyme contributes to fungal invasion by dissolving away the protective waxy covering of plants. The image is a digital computer model based on real molecules. Magnification: 40 million times at 7''x7'' printed size.
