Trans fats have been shown to raise LDL-particles and lower HDL-cholesterol. Trans fats are found in fried and processed foods and their straight shape allows them to stack easily. The stacked fats form fatty deposits called plaque on vessel walls, which can lead to heart attack or stroke.
