Nickel ion complexes. Two vials with nickel ion complexes. When nickel(II) sulfate (NiSO4) is dissolved in water, it forms a green nickel aquo complex ((Ni(H2O)6)2+, 0.25M concentration, left vial). When dimethylglyoxime (CH3C(NOH)C(NOH)CH3, dmgH2) is added to the solution, it forms a red solution of nickel bis(dimethylglyoximate) (Ni(ONC(CH3)C(CH3)NOH)2, Ni(dmgH)2, right vial).
