Full Moon phase of the July 27-28, 2018, with the red planet Mars nearby. Mars was at its closest point to the Sun in its orbit during the eclipse. This scene shows the moon and Mars over Savute Elephant Camp in Botswana, Africa. This was a rare central eclipse occurring at lunar apogee with totality lasting more than one minute.
