Galapagos Islands, satellite image. Satellite image of the westernmost Galapagos Islands. Vegetation is green, water is blue, and cloud is white. The three large islands from left are: Fernandina, Isabela and Santiago. The western tip of Santa Cruz can also be seen (far right), along with a few of the smaller islands. The Galapagos are an archipelago of approximately 22 volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean about 972 kilometres west of continental Ecuador. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Imaged in March 2008.
