Radio Telescopes

Almost 70 years ago, the first radio signal from outer space was picked up and since then, radio astronomy has continued to search for ever fainter signals. Todays radio telescopes are sensitive enough to pick out signals which date to almost the beginning of time itself - to the Big Bang. These telescopes can also pick out objects too dark to see with optical devices, such as black holes and pulsars.
