Human Genome

In a dozen laboratories throughout the world, hundreds of machines are working around the clock to decipher the information contained in millions of fragments of human DNA. Uncovering the 3 billion bas pairs which make up the 100,000 or so genes would effectively create a blueprint for making a human being. This information would then pave the way for drugs tailored to meet the individuals own genetic make-up, as well as providing a valuable map in the study of illnesses.
