Burns Archive

For the past 25 years, Dr Stanley Burns from New Yok, has built up one of the finest private collections of early photography. This feature, selected from his 40,000 strong medical archive, is represented here for the first time in Europe and documents 19th and 20th century medical history through the eyes of the earliest photographers. The unique images show strange and often bizarre practises and surgical procedures, as well as rare diseases and conditions. Dr Burns has recently published a book "A Morning's Work" showing many of the images from the collection.
