Mars Couture

When most people think of a spacesuit, they envisage the cumbersome one Neil Armstrong donned in the 1960s - a diving-bell-like contraption with limb extensions. Today's spacesuits are disappointingly similar to those the Apollo astronauts wore four decades ago, but MIT aerospace engineer Dava Newman is looking to shake things up. Her prototype BioSuit, designed for future planetary exploration missions, clings to the skin like a leotard to allow for greater freedom of movement.
