Embryonic Stem Cells

In 1998, a team of American researchers first isolated so-called 'stem cells' from human embryos and showed that they could be grown in the laboratory. This raised the possibility of a repair kit based on the body's own cells. But, a decade after the discovery, no-one has yet been cured by stem cell therapy, also known as 'regenerative medicine'. So was it all media hype? Not according to stem cell researchers.
