The Sky At Nighters

This is the International Year of Astronomy, commemorating 400 years since Galileo first observed the heavens through a telescope, and the impact that this had on human thinking. The UK has a long tradition of astronomy and has always been at the forefront. Indeed, Galileo’s observations were preceded by those of an Englishman, the Tudor polymath Thomas Harriot, from Syon House in London. Explorers of the Universe charts the progress of astronomy in the UK, from Stonehenge through to telescopes in space.
