Agriculture from space

These remarkable images may resemble patchwork quilts but they are photos of farms taken by satellites orbiting hundreds of kilometres above the Earth. These images reveal the extent to which man farms the land and also the precision with how the land is managed. Satellite photos can help farmers detect signs of crop disease, flooding, fertiliser mis-use and other patterns. Many of the images here also reveal the sharp divide between man-managed farmland and wild nature.
