The world's Stinkiest Plants

Flowering plants and their pollinators have co-evolved over millions of years. Today, there are innumerable examples of special tricks that plants use to attract insect pollinators. Many plants not only smell like rotting flesh, they have evolved to mimic other aspects of a rotting carcass, including bright ‘meaty’ colours, the ability to emit heat and mimic the hairy surface of fur and hair. Whilst repulsive to humans, they are yet another example of nature evolving ingenious methods to survive and proliferate.
