Today in 2005 the European Space Agency (ESA) probe Huygens landed on Titan. Attached to Cassini orbiter as part of the Cassini-Huygens, mission it launched on October 15th 1997. After a seven year journey, on December 25th 2004 Huygens separated from the Cassini orbiter and landed on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon on January 14th 2005. Huygens sent data for 90mins after touchdown. It is the most distant landing of any craft launched from Earth. As of 2015, Cassini is still orbiting Saturn and its mission has been extended to 2017.
