Easy Street is a simulated town built inside the Gaylord Hospital in Connecticut, USA. Comprising of a supermarket, bank, cinema, restaurant and even full-sized car park, Easy Street is designed to help individuals regain mental and physical living skills which have been lost as a result of illness, accident or injury. The simulation recreates many of the challenges and obstacles that patients will face in the outside world. The 'real world' setting helps speed up the rehabilitation process. Now Easy Street's designer, David Guynes, is developing a similar rehabilitation environment for hospitals in Europe and Japan.
